"Virtually all native cultures that have survived without fouling their nests have acknowledged that nature knows best, and have had the humility to ask the bears and wolves and ravens and redwoods for guidance." -Janine Benyus
My art is an attempt to mend what was torn apart when we separated from the living web of Life
I have started to weave individual WomBelts with your colours, prayers and beads.

Everybody needs beauty as well as bread, places to play in and pray in, where nature may heal and give strength to body and soul. John Muir
Working with Azul has been an incredible and magical experience. At the beginning I had no idea that it was going to be such a powerful collaborative experience. The process of choosing three power animals which had significance and meaning in my life was just the start. Azul gave me time and space to really feel into the animals that were appearing for me. Azul has a rich depth of knowledge about animals and their power, and it was a complete pleasure to experience the birth of the White Hart, the Otter and The Raven with her. I was involved as little or as much as I wanted in the actual composition and colours of the piece, and I feel that we came to a really beautiful balance between my vision and her artistic expertise. The finished piece is absolutely stunning and very precious to me. I have used it in ceremony, for my personal development and even taken it to psychotherapy sessions in order to work with the animals and connect deeper to their meanings and magic. Thank you Azul for the process as well as the breathtaking artwork. Rachel M.
“The story tells us that living the life of an artist is not as useful as living our lives as a work of art.” ― Martin Prechtel,
I met a cranial osteopath who spoke of how he treats limbs even when they are no longer there. He could feel the energy in the space where the leg of a man had been amputated treating it as part of the whole body's returning to balance. It had me wonder about our forests as one body and trees has her limbs. I now walk in the emptiness, in the green desert of our fields imagining what would happen if I held the trees that were there in the past in my care. As with such exploration there is a beginners feel of knowing what the next step is. So I decided to call a forest to appear in my paintings to understand a bit deeper what happens to all the chop off 'limbs' of our forests and how i can still connect with them and awaken my memory what is truly happening in the world of forests. Could I still feel them, hear them and honour the forest that once was. The world looks different in this way, as if I walk in forests all the time with only a few trees visible to the sleeping eyes. The white trees are the ones gone but here. The face is on a 'look out'. I am curious about what will show up next…

eARTh: is Art as Prayer - a practice of making beautiful ART and CRAFT for the mending of our connection with EARTH while activating the world of our longing through this ritual making.
eARTh is a doorway, a threshold to a place where I can practice, vision and make prayers for the world of my soul's longing for all creation. It is a practice of feeding, praising and praying. eARTh is a relationship between the tools, the land and the maker. I make with a variety of medium from wood carving, painting, sculpting, land art, sewing etc…to facilitate the birth of Active Prayers. During the workshops I run we go through a whole practice of becoming present with the place, the tools and self before making. Each workshop is a ceremony, a sacred time and space through the making. I am always curious and astonished to 'who' will show up when we make...each piece a new being released and longing for connection and intimacy. In this page you can see some of my eARTh as well as a few commissioned pieces of work and the kind of workshops I run. Good to have you here! |
