"This is the first, wildest and wisest thing I know, that the soul exists, and that it is built entirely
out of attentiveness” - Mary Oliver -
Azul - Valérie Thomé is an artist, activist, visionary and mentor devoted to restoring humanity back to a deep relationship with the Earth ~ with the revival of the deep language of soul.
Through ritual and ceremony in various lands Azul shares wisdom teachings and gatherings centered around maturing as humans, grief ritual, women’s rites of passage, Earth-informed art, and life cairn dedications honoring extinct species.
Influenced by her primary guides (Joanna Macy, Francis Weller and Sobonfu Some) as well as her own deep listening to the Earth and Waters.
She has cultivated Earth-connected leadership and youth programs, reverently showcased folk art at her Dartmouth shop, and coordinated a diverse community coalition to reforest the oak groves surrounding the River Dart in 2002.
Azul holds a master’s degree in Ecological Design from Schumacher College, and is blessed to be the mother of a strong, dedicated young man.
Currently, Azul is midwifing her
vision of SOULand, ~ a Sanctuary and School for the Maturing of the Human Soul.
She is on the look out for a Water Mill to create the first SOULand in Europe.
Azul has already started sharing her full basket of wisdom teachings: eARTh, Grief Composting Circles, WomBelt, Black Tent Council , One on One mentoring , Returning to Earth What was Stolen , Life Cairn while following messages she keeps receiving from the Water.
She was born in the 1960’s in Beirut to a French Mother and a Lebanese Father.
Always with a finger or ten into the beautiful and sacred animist ways which are based on the knowledge that all natural things on our Earth have an interconnected ecological Soul.
From participation in the start of the Transition Movement to the London urban food growing scene, seed banks and reforestation projects, whatever Azul activates and initiates is sourced in our animate world, deep ecology, soul imagination and deep transformation.
Past ventures include:
FOOD from the SKY
London Freedom Seed Bank
'I look forward to a deep and wild conversation with you all in the company of Grief, Love, Death and reBirth as if being gifted our Wild and Precious Life truly Mattered.
We are creating spaces for Soul to feel welcome again. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your supporting me delivering the vision of SOULand in your own variety of ways. We will feed, care and praise Her back into being. In these ways we might feel what it could be like to restore our humanity in service to Life.’
SOULand is a vision that gathered around my eyes early 2016. a Place (a Water Mill still to be found) and a growing Programme for the Maturing and Homecoming of Soul.
SOULand is becoming a Programme of regular Collective Grief Work, of Initiatory Practices and regular Rite of Passage, the Accompaniment of our Dying world and the Welcoming of what longs to be born..
A place where we Make together the World of our Longing through eARTh, Beauty, Sacred Arts, Ceremonies and Rituals that acknowledge the sacred needs of our starving Soul in our time of profound crisis and necessary thresholds. Azul-Valerie Thome
A warm welcome, thank you for being here!
My present work and offering longs to be infused with soul, depth and beauty all informed by ancient Earth’s wisdom, systems thinking, deep ecology as well as archetypal psychology.
I seek to remember and nurture a deep conversation with Grief, with Love, Death and Life necessary in our transforming world to protect and repair our withering Imagination. I have recently completed a Masters in Ecological Design Thinking at Schumacher College titled: the eARTh of Grieving Collectively as if Life and Death really Mattered,
As I track back my life within the life of our Earth I feel a great empathy:
Such forging and tempering rough initiations calls us, I sense, to one or all three of the following paths:
The Golden Thread.
